wenatchee national forest photography – hidden lake

While I love to photograph people in special moments, sometimes a person just has to be alone in the woods to reconnect with the art behind it all.

On Monday, my husband and I decided to take advantage of the day off by getting in the car and heading up into the mountains. We didn’t go far, just past Leavenworth to the Lake Wenatchee area, but it felt like we were in another world.

At the end of Forest Road 6750 along the South Shore of Lake Wenatchee sits the Hidden Lake trailhead. A short, relaxed climb brings you through the forest to a small, serene lake–Hidden Lake–untouched by boats or cabins. It is completely majestic.

For about half an hour we were the only people at the lake, or in the world, it seemed. After a quick picnic on the rocks on the northern shore, I pulled out the camera and, well…see for yourself.

Beautiful, right?

I can’t wait to hit up more hiking trails in the Wenatchee Valley (with my camera in hand, of course). How lucky we are to live here!
